OMS – Officina Meccanica Sestese SpA

Sectors:
Region:
Piemonte
Overview:

In 1949 Maurizio Rossi and Luigi Cristina founded the company Officina Meccanica Sestese in Arona. In those difficult post-war years, the company undertook the important task of producing equipment and accessories for kilns especially for the production of bricks. OMS production soon asserted itself on the market so much that after a few years it became necessary to change premises. So, in 1958 a new plant was inaugurated in Arona where it continued to produce technologically advanced kiln equipment. In the following years new and more sophisticated brick handling equipment and systems were developed and marketed. OMS's products continued to assert themselves domestically and abroad, and the new plant soon became inadequate. Thus it was decided to build the new and much larger complex in Paruzzaro, close to Arona.

Today, Officina Meccanica Sestese offers a complete range of end-of-the-line packaging machines and systems. Thanks to the great reliability of its machines, guaranteed by years of experience, and its production versatility, Officina Meccanica Sestese can satisfy all market requirements from the simplest strapping machine to the most sophisticated packaging system. All this is made possible by OMS's structure which unites the most modern organizational criteria with a high regard for its workers. The 150 persons employed in the Paruzzaro plant work in a modernly equipped structure with the aid of the most efficient machinery and computer systems.

Officina Meccanica Sestese's philosophy can be summarized in the following points: Consolidation and extension of the worldwide sales and assistance network; adoption of the most updated technologies for machine design and manufacture; adoption of new and more sophisticated machine management and diagnosis software which also allows for remote machine operation control and programming (through a modem); orientation towards the supply of complete and integrated "packaging solutions" in the production lines instead of single machines; adaptation of machines to the most recent energy savings requirements (lesser use of raw materials and electric power); and possibility for the machines to work correctly with materials with a lesser environmental impact.
