Machines Italia PowerPoint presentation conducted by the Italian Trade Commission Offices (ICE-Agenzia) of Chicago, Toronto and Mexico City (in Italian) on February 27, 2013 at the offices of FEDERMACCHINE in Milan, Italy.

During the fourth quarter of 2012, Machines Italia together with IndustryWeek magazine conducted its survey on the usage of automation in the manufacturing sector. This Survey had as its objectives the following:

• Examine the use of automation and robotics among manufacturers;
• Investigate the use of and perception of Italian machines;
• Determine future purchasing plans and the important factors and players in the decision-making process.

Machines Italia was provided with a unique opportunity to present the "Italian Offer" for manufacturing and technology solutions to 115 attendees representing thirty-eight companies, nine consulates, eight banks and municipalities and five governmental agencies at the McHenry County (Illinois) International Trade Fair on December 7th, 2012.

Mr. Perez, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing and Services at the International Trade Administration, details the programs and policies that the ITA has implemented to strengthen U.S. manufacturers' global competitiveness and to enhance U.S. exports.

If we can believe the numbers, as would usually be the case, for Italy's machine producing industry, the year 2011 ended on a rather pleasant note, according to Italy's GIMAV, the association of Italian manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, equipment and special products for glass processing.

Machines Italia representatives together with the Italian Consulate in Chicago along with FIAT's SEPIN Manufacturing Training Unit, hosted a morning briefing on the US Automotive industry for a delegation of Northern Italian companies involved in said industry.

North American auto industry leaders say the top three benefits of investing in new plant equipment are a higher quality product (26 percent); increased throughput (23 percent); and lower overall operating costs (20 percent). And of those companies that use Italian-made industrial machinery, most say the biggest benefit they derive from it is help in meeting strategic and operational goals.

Thanks in large part to exports, data shows that 2010 was a year of solid growth for Italy's captial goods sector in general, which partially recovered from the severe economic crisis of 2009. And the glassworking machinery sector was no exception.

According to Italy's federation of Italian machinery manufacturers' associations, FEDERMACCHINE, Italy's provision to US manufacturers of machinery and technology increased 32.8% for the first quarter of 2011.

The Italian Trade Commission in cooperation with FEDERMACCHINE via its Machines Italia project held an executive seminar for Italian manufacturers on the project's activities in North America.
