#5 - Spring 2014
Dear readers I take the opportunity of the first birthday of the Elettronica Machines Italia Newsletter to
introduce myself.

I am Alessandro Liberatori Manager of the Mechanics, Chemistry, Energy and Environment Office at ICE Headquarters
in Rome, which is in charge of the Machines Italia Special Technology Project under which the following is implemented
this Electronic Newsletter addressed to Italian instrumental mechanics companies.

With this year's first issue we present its renewed look in graphics and layout
to make it more appealing, easily readable, consultable and shareable.

As you know, this communication tool, distributed quarterly to nearly 5,000 readers and
users, was created with the aim of informing Italian companies about initiatives within the Machines project
Italy and about business opportunities in the markets of the United States, Canada and Mexico. At the end of this first
year we would like to know your opinions and suggestions on how to make the Newsletter always
more effective for your information and business needs. So please do not hesitate to write to give us a
your opinion!

Regarding in detail the contents of this edition, among the upcoming initiatives planned for the
2014 we point out in particular:
  • The organization of the 2014 Manufacturing Conferences articulated on two events that will take place on May 7 and 8 in Chicago and Mississauga (in Canada) with the aim of highlighting how Italian technology solution providers constitute privileged reference partners for local manufacturing companies
  • The holding of a seminar presenting the Select USA program on investment opportunities in the United States organized in the first week of June by ICE-Agenzia and the Machines Italia Desk in Chicago in collaboration with Federmacchine and the free Cattaneo LIUC University of Castellanza (VA). The appointment - free of charge - will include the possibility for participants to have bilateral meetings with experts from the institutions present.
  • The many activities scheduled in Mexico, where a system mission led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development, ICE and CONFINDUSTRIA will kick off next March 31, and where an interregional project called "Promotion of the Mechanics Sector in Mexico and Nafta" will be carried out this year, involving the Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont regions and aimed at fostering the development of new business opportunities for our companies.
Finally with regard to the Focus column, we have decided to highlight the activities we carry out
in the area of training with particular reference to the Italian Technology Awards program.
The initiative is organized by ICE in collaboration with Federmacchine and its Associations and concerns awards
awarded to students from foreign technology universities following a competition on the best paper
made on topics related to Italian technologies and their applications. The prize winners are invited
to Italy, where by means of a tour among the most significant companies in the various sectors they can get to know closely
the production realities and technological levels of the machinery produced in our country. This is a way
effective way to introduce future managers and/or engineers to Italian machinery and technologies.
Thank you for your attention and looking forward to your feedback (which you can send directly to
email to machinesitalia [at] ice.it) I would like to remind you to register for free on the database of the site
www.old.machinesitalia.org to have the opportunity to get in touch with thousands of foreign operators of the
nAFTA countries.

Happy reading!
