The Machines Italia USA Desk was asked to collaborate in developing a roundtable at the Automobili 2021 event in Detroit. Thanks to its contacts from the 2018 Innovation Days event that had the automotive sector as its focus, three speakers were secured along with Mr. Michael Wayland of CNBC, a journalist specializing in the automotive sector.

The approximately hour-long INNOVATION THAT MOVES FORWARD panel discussion was held on September 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Italian time in the trade show event area and online, featured the following speakers.
  • Prof. Simone Onori, STANFORD UNIVERSITY
  • Dr. Sayed A. Nassar, OAKLAND UNIVERSITY
  • Giuseppe Santangelo, CEO, Skypersonic
The panel discussion focused on Italy's exceptional positioning in the global competitive landscape and how this has been achieved through 'effective collaboration between the business sector, public institutions, and academia. The speakers will address this theme and provide some evidence of the benefits offered by the strong relationships between Italy and key industry players in the US.

In the months leading up to the event, the Desk conducted several social media campaigns through its and the Chicago Office's LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts and on www.id.ice.it (the site dedicated to initiatives related to the Innovation Days project).
