Building The Future Together: Italian Excellence Supporting North American Industry

Dear Readers,

This edition of the Machines Italia newsletter explores the significant role of Italian technological innovation and manufacturing know-how in reshaping North American industrial paradigms. Italy's expertise acts as a powerful catalyst, driving the integration of technological advancement, operational sustainability, and human capital development across the continent.

The global manufacturing context is currently characterized by a significant re-modulation of geographic arrangements, particularly based on strategic factors such as the availability of specialized technical skills oriented towards the new frontiers of digital technology. In this scenario, the analysis of the new "Geography of Talent" takes on notable importance, leading to the specific identification of industrial workforce training and attraction hubs in the USA. The training dynamic fits into the framework outlined by the 2025 Report on the Manufacturing USA network, which highlights how technological integration and human capital development, along with Research and Development, are critical factors for maintaining international competitiveness.

The excellence of Made in Italy continues to consolidate its strategic and physical footprint in North America, with targeted investments in technology, defense, energy, and advanced manufacturing as evidenced by the following developments, presented in this edition of "Machines Italia":

  • Leonardo DRS has opened a center of excellence in the USA for naval propulsion and power systems.

  • Tretau has chosen Fort Wayne, Indiana, for its first US production unit of enameled wires, strengthening the local supply chain.

  • Eni is developing its diversification strategy, investing in Canada in the natural graphite industry and advanced battery materials.

  • Zoppas celebrated 25 years in Mexico, boosting the national manufacturing ecosystem and integration into global value chains, concerning electrical and thermal technologies.

A specific focus in this edition is reserved for Mexico, a market that shows a particularly intense synergy with Italy. We will examine the scope of the modernization of the Mexico-EU Agreement, which offers Italy, in particular, the opportunity to increase exports to an expanding market and strengthen the presence of its manufacturing excellence. Furthermore, there will be an in-depth analysis of the importance of the Mexican State of San Luis Potosí, as a hub for investments and commercial exchange with foreign countries. Finally, in this issue, the focus is on the prospects of the primary sector in Mexico, characterized by particularly optimistic forecasts for the agricultural sector in 2026, a productive area in which the contribution of smart mechanization Made in Italy can play a crucial role in increasing Mexico's national agricultural productivity.
