Guanajuato leads automotive production in Mexico with 658 billion pesos in 2024

Guanajuato positioned itself as the national leader in automotive production value during 2024, reaching an accumulated 658 billion pesos. With an annual growth rate of 16.8%, the state far exceeded the national average of 6%, consolidating its position as a key reference in the sector, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The state accounts for 18.52% of the national production value, driven by the operation of four world-class assembly plants: Honda, General Motors, Toyota, and Mazda, in addition to the presence of two original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Ford and Volkswagen. This industrial ecosystem has strengthened the productive capacity and consolidated Guanajuato as a strategic destination for investment in automotive manufacturing.

In addition to the automakers, Guanajuato has a solid network of international suppliers such as Pirelli, Continental, Michelin, American Axle, BOS, GKN and Ryobi, among others, which contribute to innovation and efficiency in the supply chain. The sector represents 20.6% of the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates more than 220 thousand formal jobs, making it a fundamental pillar for the region's economic development.

Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, Secretary of Economy, highlighted that these results reflect the confidence of companies in Guanajuato's industrial infrastructure, backed by a skilled workforce and competitive conditions. In addition, the growth of the sector has favored the integration of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) into value chains, strengthening their competitiveness and expanding their opportunities for expansion.

The dynamism of the automotive industry in Guanajuato reinforces its role as a benchmark in Mexico, attracting investment and promoting the development of new manufacturing technologies, which will allow it to consolidate its leadership in the coming years.
