Port of Altamira, Tamaulipas mobilized more than 385,00 vehicles in the first semester of 2024.

The Port of Altamira in Tamaulipas registered a new commercial record in terms of vehicle imports and exports, with a movement of 385,034 units between January and July 2024, representing a daily average of more than 1,338.

According to the statistical report of the National Port System Administration (Asipona) of Altamira, most of the vehicles arrived in the export process, with 280,488 registrations, while imports totaled 4,546 units. 

March was the month with the highest economic activity, with 49,160 vehicles moved, followed by February with 45,322 and January with 39,337. On the other hand, June accumulated 38,149 units, July 36,679, April 36,132 and May 35,709, the latter being the month with the lowest activity.

With this data, the Port of Altamira reinforced its position as a strategic ally for vehicle trade in Mexico, and also shows the growth in automotive manufacturing and consumption processes at a global level.

On the other hand, this maritime terminal has also maintained its key position in cargo movement, reporting more than 11 million 835 thousand tons between January and July 2024. 

The type of loose cargo accumulated in this period more than 4 million tons, general containerized cargo 3 million 523 thousand tons, agricultural bulk 895 thousand tons, mineral bulk one million 708 thousand tons and fluid cargo one million 704 thousand tons. 

As for containers (TEUS), Asipona detailed that the accumulated in the first seven months of the current year amounted to 472, 506.
