Saskatchewan Manufacturing Sees Rapid Growth, Second Highest in Canada

Saskatchewan’s manufacturing sector posted one of the strongest gains in the country this spring. According to new figures, sales rose 4.4% in May 2025 compared to April, the second-largest month-to-month increase among provinces.

Provincial Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said the results reflect a resilient and growing economy, giving businesses confidence to expand and invest. Manufacturing sales data—which tracks shipments, inventories, and new orders—highlights the sector’s vital role in Saskatchewan’s economic momentum.

The province’s broader economic indicators also point upward. Statistics Canada reports that Saskatchewan’s real GDP reached a record $80.5 billion in 2024, up 3.4% from the previous year, ranking second nationwide and more than double the national average growth rate.

Capital investment has been another driver of strength. In 2024, private investment jumped 17.3% to $14.7 billion, the highest growth rate of any province. Forecasts suggest this figure will rise to $16.2 billion in 2025, a further 10.1% increase and the second-highest projected gain in Canada.

These gains align with the province’s long-term economic roadmap, Securing the Next Decade of Growth, which sets out strategies for building investment, job creation, and prosperity across Saskatchewan.
