Strengthening the ties between the State of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and Italy: investments, trade, and cooperation.

The Italian Ambassador to Mexico, Alessandro Modiano, had an institutional meeting with the Governor of San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, in March 2026, to strengthen bilateral cooperation between this Mexican State and Italy. The meeting focused on attracting greater Italian investment to the State and expanding commercial and cultural exchange.

Governor Gallardo Cardona highlighted the competitive advantages of San Luis Potosí as a destination for foreign capital. He emphasized its strategic position in the center of the country, the availability of specialized human resources, and its solid road infrastructure, which connects it with the northern border, neighboring States, and key ports in Mexico. He also highlighted the social peace in this State, which makes it one of the four safest in the country.

The consolidation of relations with foreign diplomatic authorities is fundamental to the State's economic growth strategy. Therefore, the Governor reiterated his Administration's willingness to strengthen international alliances in various fields, including sustainable development, technological innovation, police training, and academic and cultural collaboration. The main objective is to promote international connectivity to attract investment, promote cooperation projects, and consolidate San Luis Potosí as a development hub in Mexico.

A concrete example of economic collaboration was the celebration of 25 years of Zoppas Industries' activity in Mexico, with an event organized in San Luis Potosí. This commemoration highlighted the strong contribution of the Italian company to industrial development and technological collaboration between the two countries.

Since its arrival, Zoppas Industries has contributed to the training of specialized talent, the strengthening of the local manufacturing ecosystem, and the integration of Mexican production into international value chains, particularly in electrical and thermal technologies. The anniversary reaffirms the relevance of San Luis Potosí as a production center for global manufacturers looking to access North American markets, a qualified workforce, and integrated supply chains.

Italian investment is a driver of industrial growth in Mexico. European companies increasingly see the country as a competitive platform for production, technological innovation, and exports, with an undeniable advantage for both foreign companies and the local economy.

In the context of the National Conference on Export and Internationalization of Companies, Mexico was identified as one of the most important strategic partners for "Made in Italy" companies. Managers emphasize that global economic uncertainty drives market diversification, the creation of resilient supply chains, and long-term industrial alliances. Mexico's integration into global value chains and its preferential access to North American markets make it an attractive destination, particularly for sectors such as advanced manufacturing, energy, and industrial technology.
