Vincor Canada to Increase Processing Capacity and Introduce New Pressing Technology from Italy

Vincor Canada, the country's leading domestic wine producer and marketer announced an impressive plan to upgrade the Niagara (ON) processing capabilities, in order to meet the growing demand for both International/Canadian blended wines and VQA wines made from high quality grapes sourced from local farmers.

The recent investment in equipment from Italy include a SIPREM International's continuous membrane press – the first of its kind in North America - a KOSME labeler.

The Italian equipment was sourced by Brad Wells, Project Engineer at the Niagara Falls Vincor facility, following an Italian Trade Commission's sponsored delegation to the SIMEI-ENOVITIS trade show in Milan, Italy in 2009.

Over the last eight years Vincor has invested more than of $36 million in land, buildings and equipment in its largest winery in the Niagara area.

These investments have improved product quality and benefited the local economy, creating jobs and awarding contracts to local engineers, contractors and equipment suppliers

Vincor is also the largest purchaser of grapes from independent grape growers in Ontario and expects to purchase approximately one third of the estimated 55,000 metric tonnes of wine grapes harvested in the province with an increase of more than 20 per cent over prior years.

Currently Vincor employs approximately 1,100 people in Ontario. Furthermore, the company's has land holdings in Canada's largest wine growing regions, the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia as well as the Niagara Peninsula
