Data-equipped machines help productivity
With more information available from machinery and their components than ever before, factories can collect, an- alyze and use data to identify problems, improve oper- ations, and even predict when maintenance is needed.
Machinery and the components within it are increasingly equipped with sensors. A survey conducted by SME in April found that, despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, three of the top five technology investments companies expect to make are in cloud services, wire- less connectivity, and digital security.
