Erretre started business in 1974 as a Technical Research company with the objective of developing new ideas and methods for the processing and production of leather. Already in 1984, collaborating with the University of Medicine of Padua’s Workplace studies department work was done on eliminating the problems associated with pigment spray fumes when finishing leather, and very innovative spraying systems and spray fume processing and purification systems were created. This happened ten years before legislation demands started to appear in this respect. At the same time other areas were researched including the dry milling (tumbling) process.

Starting with the manufacture of some milling drums, this activity became more and more intense and specialized, the “Chemical Milling” system was created and new methods for leather processing and finishing were developed. Today, years after the beginning of Erretre, the same creativity continues to produce new research in several directions, keeping and reinforcing Erretre's leading position.
