IMTS & MDA 2014: A One Two Winning Combination

IMTS 2014 is the 30th edition of the premier manufacturing technology show in North America. 1,900 exhibiting companies will occupy 1,240,863 net square feet of exhibit space at the McCormick Place complex in Chicago, Illinois. IMTS is held every even-numbered year in Chicago and attracts more than 100,000 buyers and sellers from over 112 countries.

Being one of the world's leading show for capital good technologies and machinery, this year Machines Italia a project of the Italian Trade Agency will have representatives at both IMTS with Italy's UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE (Booth NII-1, North Building, Mezzanine Floor) and MDA - Motion, Drive and Automation show sections with Italy's Assofluid (Booth# E4848 East Building).

The Italian Trade Agency has organized with Assofluid, the first ever Italian Pavilion at Motion, Drive and Automation show, featuring 12 of Italy's strongest companies involved in the sector. The inaugural Motion, Drive & Automation North America comes on the heels of the successful 2012 launch of Industrial Automation North America, the premier trade show for process, factory and building automation in North America. Just as Industrial Automation North America distinguished itself as an industry-leading event, Motion, Drive & Automation North America is poised to become the networking hub of North America’s power transmission, motion control and fluid technology sectors. 

Adding to the mix, with IMTS, Italy will have an addtional 90+ companies exhibiting either directly or indirectly at the show. IMTS will have over 1,900 exhibitors from the metalworking industry will display their products and productivity solutions at McCormick Place in Chicago covering 1.2 million net square feet of show floor. Manufacturers will display their equipment in product category pavilions: Metal Cutting: contains everything from machining centers and assembly automation to flexible manufacturing systems and lathes. Tooling & Workholding Systems: features jigs, fixtures, cutting tools of all types and related accessories. Metal Forming & Fabricating/Laser Processes: home to waterjet, plasma-arc and laser systems, welding equipment, heat treating and more. Other pavilions at IMTS include Abrasive Machining /Sawing/Finishing; Controls & CAD –CAM; EDM; Gear Generation; Industrial Automation North America; Machine Components/ Cleaning/ Environmental and Quality Assurance.

Finally, in AMT’s Emerging Technology Center, Booth N-650, at the IMTS Show, one will have the experience to witness Italy's leadership in industrial design and innovation on show-site. The US company, Local Motors, Inc. recently announced the winner of their first 3D Printed Car Design Challenge that was launched in April to uncover concepts that will inform and influence the vehicle that will be printed live at IMTS.

More than 200 entries, representing submissions from 30+ countries around the globe, were submitted during the six-week challenge. The winning concept, Strati, created by Italian designer Michele Anoé of Italy, will be the one produced on show site as the first ever full-size 3D printed prototype.
