EMO Milan and Hanover Exhibition Cycle Confirmed to 2027

CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industry and EMO exhibition brand owner, has signed an agreement with the German machine tool builders' association (VDW) and Fondazione UCIMU (the operating structure of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots, and automation systems) to agree the schedule and location for the next six editions of the EMO trade show.

The EMO fair program to 2017 is:

  • 2017: Hanover – Germany
  • 2019: Hanover – Germany
  • 2021: Milan – Italy
  • 2023: Hanover – Germany
  • 2025: Hanover – Germany
  • 2027: Milan – Italy

In 2015, EMO will be held in Milan (Fiera Milano, October 5-10, 2015), after two cycles in Hanover, with the last having just taken place in September. EMO Hannover 2013, September 16-21, 2013, saw over 2,100 exhibitors from 43 different countries present innovations to just under 145,000 trade visitors from over 100 different nations.

UCIMU and VDW are member associations of CECIMO and represent the two most important European countries, in terms of machine tool production and consumption.

UCIMU-Sistemi per produrre is the Italian machine tool, robots, automation systems and ancillary products (NC, tools, components, accessories) manufacturers' association. Official representative of the sector, UCIMU-Sistemi per produrre has today over 200 associate member companies.

VDW, based in Frankfurt am Main, has represented the interests of the German machine tool industry for more than 120 years. It has a voluntary membership of around 280 firms, which account for about 90% the industry's total turnover. VDW organizes exhibitions for the international machine tool industry and has logged up more than 90 years' experience in organizing trade events.

With an experience spanning many decades, thanks to the organisation of five previous editions of EMO, the UCIMU team is already at work on EMO Milano 2015.

Under the motto 'Let's build the future', EMO Milano 2015 Italy anticipates a record number of visitors, because it takes place during the last stretch of Expo Milano 2015, and because the Italian government has agreed to refinance its 'Sabatini' law, which supports the purchase of machine tools in Italy.

The origins of EMO are in 1951, following the establishment of CECIMO in 1950. The exhibition became EMO (Exposition de la Machine-Outil) in 1975, when it was held in Paris. The EMO fair takes place every other year, with the initial EMO cycle (Hanover-Paris-Hanover-Milan) modified in 2003, by CECIMO into the current, and now extended, Hanover-Hanover-Milan cycle.

CECIMO is the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, which brings together 15 national machine tool builder associations, which represent approximately 1,500 industrial enterprises in Europe = EU + EFTA + Turkey), over 80% of which are SMEs. CECIMO covers 98% of total machine tool production in Europe and about one third worldwide. It accounts for almost 150,000 employees and a turnover of nearly €22 billion in 2012. More than three quarters of CECIMO production is shipped abroad, with half exported outside Europe.
