Italian Technology Award Programs: NAFTA And Beyond
Social Media Will Keep Current and Past Participants Connected in 2015 and Beyond! The Italian Technology Award, now in its second decade, is a prize organized by the ITA - Italian Trade Agency (www.italtrade.com) along with several partnering organizations. ITA and a host of sponsors encourage students and researchers from NAFTA regions and beyond to gain firsthand knowledge of leading Italian technologies deployed in machinery manufacturing industries, including machine tools, textile, plastic, ceramic, marble and packaging.

Italy, one of the world’s main producers of advanced manufacturing machinery systems for a wide variety of sectors, provides companies around the globe with innovative technologies, ideas and solutions. As of this year, 2015, ITA program partners can now connect students, faculty members, and Italian companies and associations that have been part of the program since its inception through the newly established online alumni network of past and present winners. The ITA alumni network allows participants to continue exchanging ideas, concepts, and experiences through the convenience of social media. Salvatore Parano, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency’s Mexico City office, praised the program, stressing that “faculty participation provides academics with a noteworthy opportunity to experience and learn about Italian machinery and technology and to enhance their programs by sharing such experiences with the classroom. And as we integrate more social media into the program’s mix we can now also provide them with a virtual ‘classroom’.”
