#2 - Winter 2013
We have arrived at the second issue of the "Machines Italia" newsletter, Winter 2013.

The publication, distributed only in electronic format on a quarterly basis, aims to inform
and update Italian companies and associations on the activities carried out under the
"Machines Italia" , a program created through collaboration between ICE and Federmacchine , as well as providing
useful news, the latest statistical data on machine tool imports in the three
countries involved in the project-Mexico, the United States and Canada, information on events carried out or in
being held, business opportunities

The content and structure of the publication is a "work in progress," ready to accommodate
suggestions and comments on how to improve what is intended to be a useful tool for the
businesses looking to NAFTA countries as a market outlet.

Each issue of the newsletter features "FOCUS," a column centered on a geographic area of
particular interest or on a specific sector of manufacturing.
The last edition of focus was devoted to Alberta, the Canadian province with the highest
economic growth in the country and with prospects for further development related mainly to,
to oil extraction, (Canada has become the world's third largest producer of crude oil), from the
tar sands and other mining activities.

This time the column focuses on Indiana, a state that, in recent times, has attracted
significant investments that could be of interest to Italian companies producing
machine tools and capital goods and is emblematic of the resurgence of manufacturing in the
United States, also supported by favorable legislation such as the phenomenon of "re-shoring," i.e
of the return to the U.S. and Canada of many companies that had relocated production to countries with
low labor costs.

I wish you a good reading. Pasquale Bova, Director
