North America consolidates as top destination for plastics machinery: AMAPLAST

Amaplast president Massimo Margaglione spoke about the performance of the Italian plastic and rubber machinery, equipment and molds industry in 2023, stating that despite a challenging global environment, the sector had experienced growth of 2.8%. Although this was a less pronounced increase than in the previous two years, nevertheless, the value of production reached a record €4.8 billion.

Exports grew by 11% year-on-year, consolidating Italy's position as the world's third largest exporter, after China and Germany.

Italian plastic and rubber machinery manufacturers experienced particularly strong sales in key markets such as the European Union (+9%), North America (+18%) and Asia (+8%, with the Middle East up 50% and the Far East, up 1%). Although with smaller shares, South America also recorded an increase of 23%.

In the top ten export markets of Italian manufacturers, notably positive results were observed in France, Spain and Romania, as well as in Mexico and Turkey. Only Poland and India showed declines, despite the fact that both had enjoyed very favorable trends in previous periods.

In addition, vice presidents Gabriele Caccia and Barbara Ulcelli summarized the initiatives carried out by Amaplast during the past year, with special emphasis on PLAST 2023. They also provided details of upcoming plans, such as preparations for Greenplast 2025. This fair will be held in Milan, May 27-30, 2025, as part of The Innovation Alliance.
