The construction sector has shown great progress so far in 2024, being favored mainly by civil engineering works, followed by building works, and in third place by specialized works.
There has been a notable increase in the demand for infrastructure, mainly energy, industrial buildings and parks, storage warehouses, and distribution or logistics points in the country, greatly favoring the construction industry.
To initiate new infrastructure projects, the public sector and the private sector must promote the development of productive infrastructure and take advantage of the relocation of supply chains (nearshoring).
Construction in Mexico is expected to experience significant growth for the remainder of this year 2024, with estimates of between 3% and 5%, which would represent close to 175 billion dollars, according to the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC). This could position Mexico as the twelfth-largest construction market in the world.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), reported that Mexico's construction sector was the one with the highest growth in industrial activity at the national level during the beginning of 2024. According to the most recent report of the Monthly Industrial Activity Indicator (IMAI), compared to January 2023, Mexico's construction sector presented an advance of 17.9% annually, to start 2024.
