Enel Green Power North America Is Awarded Wind Power Contract In Alberta
Enel, through its U.S.-based subsidiary Enel Green Power North America, has been awarded two 20-year Renewable Energy Support Agreements for the generation and supply of 146 MW of new wind power capacity in Alberta, following a competitive bidding process by the province's electricity system operator, Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
The two contracts involve the construction of two new wind farms; 115 MW Riverview Wind, phase 1 and 30.6 MW Castle Rock Ridge, phase 2, supplying AESO with the power generated and related renewable energy credits (carbon credits). The total investment in the construction of the two wind farms amounts to about US$170 million.

"This award in Canada represents an important milestone for our company, as it is the first regulated renewable tender we have ever won in the country," commented Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel's Global Renewable Energy Division, Enel Green Power. "We are happy to invest again in the Canadian energy sector and continue our expansion in the Province of Alberta. In recent years, we have delivered unprecedented growth in North and Central America, from Canada to the U.S. to Mexico, and this tender is another example of our success and global competitiveness."
