Sirmax Inaugurates Plastic Recycling Plant At Anderson's
SER North America, a subsidiary of Italy-based Sirmax Group, announced that its new plastics recycling plant in Anderson is now operational.

SER North America expects the $30 million investment to generate 40 new jobs by year-end. Plans to build the 124,000-square-foot manufacturing facility were first announced in July 2019. The company said it has already hired 25 employees with plans to add 15 more.

The plant produces recycled polypropylene from post-industrial waste. The product will be used both in industrial applications and used at the adjacent 144,000-square-foot Sirmax North Americaco plant, which was built in 2015 and has about 100 employees, as a raw material for the production of supplies for the appliance and automotive industries.
Sirmax Group generated sales of $526 million in fiscal year 2021, up 52 percent from $345 million in fiscal 2020. The company said the push toward recyclable materials is contributing to revenue growth.

"SER North America marks a new stage in Sirmax's sustainable growth," said Lorenzo Ferro, Country Manager of Sirmax Group in the United States. "These new green products give us the opportunity to enter sectors where we are not yet present, such as industrial packaging or garden furniture. Our production processes and the fact that we have full control over our sources of supply also mean that we are ready to bring post-consumer mechanical recycling technology to the United States by 2024."
