#6 - Summer 2014
Dear readers,

The ICE-Agency Office in Chicago is responsible for the supervision
of the activities of the Machines Italia project in the United States, where
we operate with a network of five offices.

Since my arrival in Chicago almost a year ago, the office has conducted
successfully a number of activities to help companies such as the
yours with advanced services, which we believe can provide the
"added value" needed to succeed in the United States.
These services are complementary to the many activities and
promotional initiatives presented in this issue of the
newsletter. Some of these have been mentioned in previous
editions of the newsletter and I would like to encourage you to make contact
with us for more information, among what we report:
Machines Italia COOP Advertising initiative that allows the
italian companies to receive substantial discounts on both print
and digital through many leaders in the publishing industry,
such as Manufacturing & Engineering and IndustryWeek magazines, only
to name a few.

Service Machines Italy Market Intelligence "ImportGenius," which
allows Italian companies to keep track in real time of
all shipments and sales of foreign exporters to the U.S
(from Boeing to General Electric).

University of Chicago Corporate Labs, corporate legal service
italian companies and their subsidiaries, the partner university offers legal advice
free of charge to assist Italian companies in any transaction, from
sales contracts, legal issues and acquisitions.

Society of Manufacturing Engineering Trade Show Event
Partnership, which allows Italian companies to take part in the
major events and trade shows for manufacturing here in the United States,
FABTECH, Westech and RAPID PROTOTYPING.
Finally, the Memorandum being finalized with Gov
united States through the Department of Commerce project,
SELECTUSA, through which the recent
conferences in both Varese and Turin, with more than 140 producers
italians participating. The seminars were conducted in
collaboration with FEDERMACCHINE and the Foreign Center for
piedmont Internationalization.

On the other hand, as far as the next scheduled initiatives are concerned
for 2014 we point out in particular, for the U.S., the Makers Faire
2014 in New York City.

The Makers Faire 2014, is an "atypical" initiative compared to our
usual programs. It is, however, an opportunity to seize the
changes taking place, not only by so-called "makers," but
also by businesses and the manufacturing world.

During the recent IndustryWeek Best Plants conference in
Milwaukee, Mr. Rodney Brooks, CEO of Rethink Robotics Inc
highlighted how manufacturing is shifting from a
three (3) stages Design-Production-Sales/Retailing, to a
design-Production/Sales approach, where production will be
increasingly at the point of sale and will no longer be
"shipped" for example by sea or train.

It is for this reason, that ICE-Agency sees numerous opportunities
for Italian producers to be part of this future and for companies
manufacturers to become "corporate makers." As well as changing
the means of communication, that is, the shift from calls to
messages, manufacturing is also changing its way of
doing things.

Looking forward to your feedback (which you can send directly to
email to machinesitalia [at] ice.co.uk) I remind you to register
for free on the www.old.machinesitalia.org database for
have the opportunity to connect with thousands of operators
foreigners from NAFTA countries.

Happy reading!
